Kids and dogs are excellent partners! Young kiddos recited children’s classics to canines at the Powerhouse located on Eighth bookstore. This event took place on March 26, 2019.
Mika Kleban, the organizer, said, “ It was very good; kids read to the canines; all was well.”
This year’s event featured at least 50 first graders, between the ages of 6 and 7, reading to authorized therapy dogs. A judgment-free listener.
Kleban reiterated, “ The whole concept or idea behind this reading session is to make kids enjoy the process of reading. It also gives them a non-threatening, non-judgemental set of audience. “
The dogs that were part of this year’s event included-
- Karat, a Lab, 6-year-old
- Fonzie, the German Shepherd
- Kylo, the Yorkshire terrier
- Cosi, the Spinone Italiano
- Rocky, the Australian Shepherd
On the day of the event, some canines proved excellent listeners while kiddos gave them cuddles and scratches.
On Wednesday, some dogs listened very patiently while some took time off to nap.
Mika said, “ The dogs and kids were great.”
