If you plan to buy/adopt this dog breed, please be aware of the common health problems that can affect your dog.

1. Heart disease

Aortic Stenosis is one of the most common types of heart problems that can affect a dog. It is often congenital, meaning it is a disability since birth.

An abnormal thinning of blood vessels between the aorta and left ventricle can be detected by organizing an electrocardiogram and an x-ray.

2. Hypothyroidism

It is not a significant health issue to worry about, but hypothyroidism can cause a considerable amount of anxiety among dog owners.

This occurs mainly due to thyroid gland dysfunction, resulting in untoward reproductive problems, short coat issues, and abnormal or unnecessary weight gain or loss. Continuous treatment can help to control this health problem to a greater extent.

3. Common Allergies

common-allergies

Allergies are most common amongst Amstaffs, an APBT (American Pitbull Terrier). They can be further classified as-

◊ Food allergy

Food allergies can cause trouble and itching, meaning the dogs will continue to chew and dig until they bleed in some cases. This can, in turn, lead to significant health problems. Corn, wheat, rice, and beef can cause food allergies.

◊ Skin allergy

Dust, pollen, grass, ticks, and fleas contribute to different types of skin allergies.

4. Hip Dysplasia (HD)

hip-dysplasia

If they spot any difference, they should scan the breeds that are ready for breeding not late than two years of age.

The best possible remedy is to immediately contact a vet and treat the dog with the necessary medications and adopt the required diet control.

Bear in mind, prevention is better than cure, and this applies to dogs too.

Pitbull is the most misunderstood and scorned dog breeds in the entire world, one of the most famous names for a dog type. Initially, pitbull puppies were developed from terriers and bulldogs as hunting and fighting dogs. In England, they were part of blood sports such as bear-baiting and bull-baiting.

Britain officially banned Pitbull in 1835. Bloodsports lovers turned their attention to dogfighting. However, at the beginning of the 20th century, Pitbull was predominantly used as friendly companions to catch hogs and semi-wild animals, manage livestock, and hunt.

In essence, dog breeders were keen to mix terrier’s “insane” bravery with bulldog’s abnormal strength. There is also a misconception among the general public that Pitbull puppies are easy to handle compared to an adult Pitbull, but it is impossible to guess a Pitbull dog’s behavior until they mature.

Overall, Pitbulls are regular dogs, but with a little more aggression in their genes due to cross-breeding.
